The first Ultimate B-Boy Championship brought together top b-boy crews to battle for the
best in the world. Brought raw physicality and pure talent to the Strip in Las Vegas, the UBC
presented b-boying on a mainstream level for the first time in the US.
We are proud to present the first-ever Ultimate B-Boy Championship Crew, Russia's very own Top 9. They edged out Killafornia in what was considered one of the more intense battles ever seen in the United States, and along the way defeated the likes of Japan's Qween of Qweenz and the United States' Knucklehead Zoo. This should come as no surprise, as Top 9 is Battle of the Year 2008's champions. Now, with $50,000 under their belts, will they become complacent, or will they return next year to win UBC 2, now facing crews that have decisively earned their spots to compete and become the next Ultimate B-Boy Champions?
Fabiano Carvalho Lopes, known in the dance world as B-Boy Neguin, took home
thehonors for the singles division of the Ultimate B-Boy Championship. Backed by his
crew, Tsunami All-Stars, he represented Brazil in one of the best b-boy singles
battle tournaments the world has ever seen. Representing the blend of capoeira and
dizzying flips that make the Brazilian b-boy scene unique, Neguin battled against
some of the top b-boys in the world, including Last For One's Joe and Knucklehead
Zoo's Mig 187. Earning fans and adoration in the process, Neguin also took home
$10,000. Will he be able to withstand the fresh talent coming in next year?
